A Bit About Us... |
In 1974, Richard Currin established Currin’s Nursery, Inc. at a small location off of Hwy. 42, which is presently a satellite farm. In 1982 he purchased the property at Eric Street, which is the current location of the office and daily operations of the nursery. At present, there are 15 acres in production at Currin’s Nursery. Richard received his degree in Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University in 1972. In 1994, he isolated the Abelia x grandiflora ‘Little Richard’, which continues to be a noteworthy and popular plant. Richard’s daughter, Ruth Currin Holcomb, joined the nursery team in December of 2005 as the Sales and Marketing Manager. She received both a bachelor of arts in Communications with a minor in Spanish and Horticulture and a Master of Science in Communications. Ruth obtained her certification as a Instructional Technology Assistant at NCSU as well. She is a Certified Plant Professional for the state of North Carolina. Also seen around the nursery are Eddie and Mamie Collins, a husband and wife team in charge of production that have been working at the nursery for over 25 years. Here at Currin’s Nursery, we strive to maintain a clean operation that results in high quality containerized plants while continuing to serve their customers the best way possible. We grow trees and shrubs ranging in size from 1 gallon to 65 gallons and propogate 75% of plants that we sell. Currin’s Nursery is well known for several items including junipers, conifers, wax myrtles, abelias, and we are continually adding to our availability of specimen quality trees and shrubs. We are a licensed grower of ‘Kaleidoscope’ Abelia (PP#16,988), Lo & Behold™ ‘Blue Chip’ Buddleia, and Lo & Behold™ ‘Miss Ruby’ Buddleia. We are always open to growing new and exciting plants, so continue to check out Market Trends Page for more information.
